Snow

Hello my dear friends!

Another quick post - I have been working long shifts for the last few days so I haven't been around much of you, this afternoon I am traveling up to my moms  - I hope all goes well as we have our first snow (it is a 200 km drive) ! It hasn't covered the grass completely yet  but it is getting thicker. These are photos I took looking outside the library onto our faculty garden and the so called " garden classroom" (basicly a shed where students have classes outside in the summer!)

I also have my high school reunion ( 35th! HUH!!! I AM OLD) this evening so I guess I have to go even though the weather isn't exactly nice! But we are used to snow in our country - not like England where all comes to a stop when it snows! :-)
Anyways I will see you Sunday with a few photos from my travel!
Oh yes I also made a card for a student who finished his forestry studies! I think it is clear that that is what the card is for.....

Have a lovely weekend....

Cardarian

WOYWW, 24th November 2010

Good morning everybody!

I hope I can do this quick as I am posting from work! I have a pile of books waiting to be catalogued so not much time to be chatting away....so lets get straight to the point .....my desk early this morning!
No too messy but never tidy!

What you can see is my flower box - I was looking for something in there and it stayed where it is....then you can see my challenge/sketch/idea notebook - It happened a few times that I made a card for a challenge but got the day wrong and missed the challenge so a while ago I started this notebook where I A: pencil in the challenges I want to play along, B:  I keep sketches I like and C:  if I get an idea or see a good one I write it down as I am getting old ha, ha and you need a bit of help!

And this is a close up of the image I have been coloring for a card I hope to finish today...I wanted to finish it yesterday but I never got round to it as I worked all day and all I was in the evening was a sack o' potatoes on the couch!

There we are my dear friends - have a good snoop - enjoy it - I will try to get to as much of you as possible!
Have a lovely day!
Lots of hugs to all of you,
Cardarian

Card nr. 3

Hello my dear friends!

This is my last offering this morning as I am in a bit of a rush! It goes for 2 challenges:
Cardpatterns (sketch) and

Allsorts where they have a recipe -  lace, ribbon and a charm!

Here is my card! I used lace and ribbon from stash, also the charm, the big poinsittia is a Prima flower and the card and paper  is DCWV - The Christmas Combo.....

Ok then off to work - see you later with card nr.4

Hugs to all of you,
Cardarian

Card nr. 2

Hello again!

I am back with another card I made since Mr. Mojo is back ....it is for the challenge at Daring cardmakers - the theme is "We three..." actually you can put any 3 things on your card - I have decided for 3 baubles - I have this lovely new  set of stanps from The Artistic Stamper called "Tick - tock" baubles and I stamped them with Versamark - used a greenish embossing powder, heat embossed - cut out ! The DP I used is a DCWV - The Christmas combo - I gave it a bit of depth with peeled paint TH DI . Ribbon is from stash and I also used some self adhesive gold - green trim that I like and it came from the Paper Mill shop in Chatham!
And here is the card....

One more to go, then I have to rush off to work - yesterday I had an all day course at the National library and today I work all day! When can I play????
Hugs to all of you!

Mr. Mojo is back and card nr. 1

Hello Everybody!

How are all you people doing?? Did you have a nice weekend?? What have you been up to??? Playing or working??? I have been doing both - He, he Mr. Mojo came crawling back asking for forgivness - I made him suffer for a while ( Donna you see that is the black me!) but now the love affair is full on!
So to show you some results here is card nr. 1 .....I used the resisit technique which I have learned from some tutorial on youtube! What a great technique - you stamp the image with versamark - emboss it with clear embossing powder - heat it and when it is dry start bringing in the color - magic! suddenly this lovely stamped image appears!
I am entering this into our Slovene challenge blog Craft- alnica!
Dober dan vsem mojim soustvarjalkam!
Danes bom sodelovala v izzivu Craft - alnice, kjer zahtevajo snežinke! No držala sem se reda in res naredila čestitko s snežinko!
Lets have a look at what I made - I am having problems with photos these days - the dull light is horrible!

Here is a close up of the clear embossed snowflake (Inkadinkado stamp)!
Tukaj je povečana slika snežinke (mimogrede štampiljka je Inkadinkado)

So that is Nr. 1 for today!

Lep dan vsem, veselo ustvarjajte!

Have a lovely day and happy crafting!
Hugs to all,
Cardarian

WOYWW, 17th November 2010

Good morning all my fellow WOYWW- ers!

I must tell you this very unfortunate story that went on last night! Mr. Mojo was nagging me to make a card for the Daring Cardmakers challenge that is about remembrance and poppies. So I gave into his persuading and stamped a poppy image that wasn't very successful - I stamped it again and then seeing that there wasn't much difference started to do something with it - colored, sprayed with mica did some cutting and 3D sticking - nothing worked but Mr. Mojo was at me all evening "go on, go on do it!" so I gave up on that idea and started on a poppy paper flower - huh that took me ages fafing around with paper and clear embossing powder and well this was just to make this one little flower - no sign of a card yet so I said to Mr. Mojo - I am tired I have a headache and I am off to bed...that really made him angry so he stormed out of the room, slammed the door and off he went - probably spending the night with one of you girls - leaving me with a broken crafty heart! (sniff, sniff..) Ah men!
I know he will be back as we do have this passionate relationship that has problems as all relationships do .....but to get to the point ( huh took me a while didn't it???) I have nothing to show you....
Here is a general view....

Here is the stamped image that didn't work....

and the sad poppy flower ......

If you look at the photo on the top you might spot a few new things - I now have 4 alcoholic inks! I have some new Martha Stewart glitter and a few other bits and bobs you should find yourself ha, ha....
Have to go now - will be back with you this evening....
Have a lovely day, enjoy your snooping!
Hugs to all of you...

2nd offering of the day!

Hello everybody!

I am back with a quickie - another card I made over the weekend and it is for the Crazy 4 Challenges
challenge! They want a Christmas card or anything that says "Christmas"
So here is the card:

To make the card I used the following: DCWV Winter combo papers, Woodware circle punch, Artemio stamp to stamp the circle, Knorr Prandel glitter glue, the lovely wooden deer is Rayher, ribbon from stash, flowers Prima and TH DI Vintage Photo!
I think that is all!
Have a lovely day!
Hugs,
Cardarian

2 challenges one card!

Good morning everybody!

How was your weekend?? Did you have a nice one?? I had a good one - mostly work not that much play! It was high time for me to get the terrace in order - prepare it for the winter which is a big job - I cut all the dead plants off the garden ( 3 big bags!) washed the floor and covered my chez longe with plastic so it will survive the winter! Put all my cushions away and well spent most of Saturday cleaning the house - vacuming etc, etc..Sunday was church first and then all day washing and ironing - well not all day - I went out for a nice long walk and chat with my friend! I also managed a bit of crafting...
I finished the card I showed on WOYWW....I will enter 2 challenges one of them is very special to me - it is a Slovene challenge that I just heard about the other day when I met someone I used to work with and she told me we have a Slovene challenge now and it is  called CRAFTALNICA ! Way to go fellow crafters in Slovenia!
I will write a bit here in Slovene....

This card is also for The Crafty Calender challenge  which is winter snowflakes - I think I have put quite a few snowflakes on this card!
Have a lovely day and enjoy your crafting!
Želim vam prekrasen dan in uživajte pri ustvarjanju!
Hugs,
Cardarian

WOYWW, 10th November 2010

Hello my lovely friends!

I seem to be very late - I looked at our Queen Julia's blog and there already seems to be 50 posts on there and it is 9 o'clock! Huh! Well I am a bit slow this morning - I did get up before 6am and played in my craft room! It was so tidy I thought I better mess it up before I take any photos! Ha, ha.....It was tidy really! I should have taken a photo before but I didn't so you will have to deal with the mess now! We have a new shop for crafty stuff in Ljubljana called Memories - they opened on Saturday and I have already been there twice! You can imagine I haven't just been looking! I spent a whole lot of money and stocked up on stamps, prima flowers, alcoholic inks as I intend to venture into that technique, a bit of TH ideology etc, etc.....yes I also bought the TH non stick scissors as I had enough of all that sticky stuff catching on my other lovely scissors! You will see some of my new stash on my desk but I will be showing more of it - hopefully on cards - in the following days!
Enough talking lets get those photos out.....

Here is the left side of my desk.....you might be able to spot my new scissors and alcoholic inks....oh yes and I have a new MS snowflake punch! Yipeeeee!

Here is the middle of my desk - I wanted to be fancy today so I distressed a bit of cardstock with blue tones of TH DI and then sprayed it with pearly Tattered angels and then punched out the snowflakes - to match with the snowman... a bit me finks.....just to make it a bit complicated...:-).....Making a card for a challenge - not finished yet!

And a view of the right side of my desk......

The ATG is sticking out of a box - I am loving it - now I have got use to it can't live without it!
So there this is my desk for today!
Have a lovely snoop my dear friends - I have decided that today I will have a lazy afternoon - will take my laptop to bed and snoop around your desks! He, he...
Lots of hugs to all of you from

Another simple card!

Hello my dear friends!

The team at Card Patterns provided us with a new sketch as they do every week - it is a simple sketch and it is just what I have been doing lately with my Christmas cards ! So I decided to go pink this time - I am usually quite traditional for Christmas cards but I bought this nice pink patterned paper stack from DCWV and it was just begging me to use it!
Here is the sketch

And here is the card....

I glammed it with a bit of glitter.....and wrote the sentiment in Slovene - Peace on Earth! A bit messy with glitter and I guess I need to go on a caligraphy course or something!

And of course I stamped them with one of my favourite stamps this season- it is a lovely swirly stamp from Stamperia my daughter bought for me in France! Love it!

That is all folks.....see ya tomorrow on WOYWW!

Hugs to all of you Cardarian

A week off, cards and repositories!

Hello Everybody!

I am back from my week off and had to jump into full day of work straight away - my boss is sick and somebody who helps in the library is sick too so I am here all day - come in the dark and go home in the dark - no fun at all! But I won't be negative as I did have a week off and I had a really lovely time! We had  a few lovely warm, sunny days and I went to Bled with my DBF who came from England for a visit! Here is a picture of me at lake Bled which is a lovely lake with a small island and a church in the middle - also a castle on a rock which you might see on the photos....actually I just looked at the photos and because of the weird autumn light you won't be able to see the island - I will try to do better next time....

and here is a an arty farty photo....

Also as promised the thank you cards I have made for the key speakers at the conference!

And now about REPOSITORIES! Some of you thought it must be something nasty like something that is in a hospital or something - I don't know there might be some in hospitals too but I would like to talk about the ones that librarians will have to deal with!
So....sometimes you go on a website and see a PDF file and you click on it to download - you get a full text of whaterever you are interested about! Sometimes these files don't work - the problem is that when the author published it on the website he used a certain programme but this programme is not in use anymore and you don't have any way to open the file - over the years there will be hundreds of these links that won't work because programmes change all the time and nobody updates these things! Well the librarians - who always take care of mankind :-) have decided to solve this problem with other specialists by making repositories - these are "cyber homes" where old files will be kept and taken care of so that you will be able to open them! Of course this will be initially made for scientific articles and papers ! Some countries like England, Netherlands and of course the US have already started with these repositories - there are companies who help set up these things - It is funny that I write about this on a crafting blog but I think this will affect us all at some time in the future so maybe it is good for all you crafty friends to know about this - I tried to explain it as basic as possible and hope that at least some of you will find it interesting!
Ok enough about that - I will be back with anouther card for a challenge - haven't done one in ages but I am back in full mojo at the moment - have made about 30 cards in the last few weeks and there will be lots more coming!
Have a lovely day, enjoy your crafting and I will see you later!
Hugs,
Cardarian

WOYWW, 3rd November 2010

Good morning everybody!

Where did the week go?????? I was going to write at least 2 posts before Wednesday but it never happened because again life got in the way! I spent a  lovely 2 days at the library conference chatting with fellow librarians and listening to clever people talking about REPOSITORIES ! What is that?? Well that is going to be a very important thing in the future! I will write about it in my next post but I don't want to make this WOYWW post too long! What else did I do up till Wednesday ? Over the weekend we had a holiday in our country - All saints day or the day of all dead ! It might be a strange thing to some of you but most central Europe has this holiday and it is basicly to celebrate our ancestors! We put flowers and light candles on our relatives and friends graves and we remember the lovely days we spent with them! My father died 11 years ago exactly on the day of the holiday and it is a tradition that we gather at my moms every year on that day and visit his grave! So my daughter and I travelled over to my moms and spent the day there! I have been off work since but I have been running around shops looking at bathroom stuff as I intend to renew my bathroom! Not yet but I wanted to get an idea what things cost! So this morning I woke up rather late ( I saw that quite a few of you have already posted your WOYWW posts) and took pictures of my room which is in a big mess because I AM MAKING CARDS every day! I spent the last few days making thank you cards for the key speakers of our conference - my boss was head of the organizing committe and she asked to make them and last night I managed to make another Christmas card....
So here is my messy room...first an overall look - the picture is a bit blurry - it is still dark outside and you can't get a decent picture!

I have a new basket thinge for my punches on the floor - these are the ones I am using for making Christmas cards....it is pink of course!

Another photo from the other side of the room.....

Stuff is everywhere as you can see and here is a close up of my desk and the Christmas card I have made...
another one of those simple and clean ones....

I will show you my thank you cards in another post as I know you must rush off to see other desks! Have a lovely day snooping - thank you soo much to everybody who visited my desk last week - I haven't visited many but I will  this week because I AM OFF WORK YIPEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Lots of hugs to all of you lovely bloggy friends
